Saw fresh cracks in the shale at Blue Ridge Quarry

I was out there yesterday and noticed several new fissures along the west face. The recent heavy rains have really loosened the layers, and a big slab looked ready to drop. If you're planning a visit, steer clear of the undercuts and wear a hard hat. Has the park service said anything about closing it?

Has the park service checked that spot yet? I missed those cracks completely, so maybe they need better lookouts than me.

My buddy Chris stepped right into a hidden crack last summer, broke his ankle. That stuff hides in plain sight sometimes.

Better lookouts than you? Tyler, the park service can't even keep the maps at the trailhead stocked half the time. I'm pretty sure their main lookout strategy is just hoping we all watch our step. If they checked every spot someone twisted an ankle, they'd never get anything else done.
