PSA: My vase survived a direct fan blast and now I question everything
Everyone warns about thermal shock, but I accidentally hit my piece with a shop fan and it held together perfectly. It was so absurd I laughed for a solid minute. Maybe we baby our glass too much sometimes?

Thick pint glass survived my freezer once, mind blown.

It's all about thermal shock... how fast the glass can handle a temperature change. That thick wall probably heated and cooled slowly enough to not crack. Some glass types, like borosilicate, are just built different for that stuff. They expand and contract way less than regular soda-lime glass when the temp swings. Makes them perfect for going from a hot wash right into the freezer. Always worth checking what your glass is made from before trying it though.

Let glasses cool completely before freezing them.
