Heads up from my book club: 'Arcane Realms' book three has a magic system flaw that sparked debate
In my experience, digging into story details can lead to some sticky social moments. At our last get-together, we were discussing the fantasy series 'Arcane Realms' and hit book three. A pal noted how a key spell in the climax totally broke the rules set up in book one. What followed was this awkward silence, then everyone jumping in to either defend the writer or call it a mess. I mean, we were just trying to have a fun chat, but it turned into a full-blown argument over coffee. Your mileage may vary, but I'd warn you to tread lightly if you spot a similar gap in your group read. Take this with a grain of salt, but it sure showed how a tiny plot hole can cause big real-world tension.

Had a D&D game crash from similar stuff. Our DM homebrewed a magic item that ignored elemental resistances. Broke three encounters in one session. Players started bickering over if it was fair. Whole campaign mood shifted after that. Sometimes the smallest rule bend just deflates the room.

Honestly reminds me of when my kid modded Skyrim to give himself a god-mode sword. Totally killed his want to keep playing after two days.

Man, I used to be all for those kind of mods. But seeing how it just sucks the life out of the game, what's even the point?
