Spotted a ton of handmade skincare booths at our town's summer fest

Went to the summer fest downtown and was surprised by how many vendors were selling their own soaps, lotions, and balms. I picked up a beeswax lip balm from a nice couple, and it's actually the best one I've used in ages. It got me thinking about supporting local makers for my routine instead of big brands. Anyone else switch to local skincare stuff and have tips on what to look for?

That beeswax lip balm find sounds awesome! I switched to mostly local stuff last year. My big tip is just to ask them about the ingredients they're proud of.

Wait, that's a good start but honestly some vendors will only talk about the nice ingredients. You gotta ask what's in the whole product, like specific preservatives or scents. I've found stuff labeled local and natural that still had weird additives they didn't mention until I asked directly.

Totally, asking vendors directly unlocked some amazing finds for me too.
