Ditching my multi-monitor setup for one display was a sustainability game-changer...

I used to run three monitors for my freelance design work... thinking it boosted productivity. But after reading about energy draw, I swapped to a single 4K screen last quarter. The adjustment period was rough... my workflow felt cramped for weeks. Surprisingly, my focus improved and my power meter showed a 30% drop in office energy use. Now I'm curious if anyone has tips for further reducing digital footprint without sacrificing efficiency... especially for graphics-intensive tasks. Part of me wonders if I should invest in a monitor with better eco-modes or if that's overkill. Honestly, the mental shift towards conscious consumption has been as valuable as the savings.

Multiple displays are NON-NEGOTIABLE for serious video editing, where preview windows and timelines need separate space. That focus gain might just be your brain adapting to a LESS efficient setup.

Calling multi-display setups 'NON-NEGOTIABLE' ignores the growing trend of editors using single, high-resolution monitors (like the one I read about on Creative Bloq). An award-winning editor praised his 5K single screen for reducing clutter and eye strain, which directly challenges the idea of mandatory multiple displays. The efficiency debate isn't as black and white as your comment suggests.

Troy highlights how single high-res monitors can streamline workflow, yet @jenny391's insistence on multiple displays stems from practical needs in complex edits. Having tried both setups, the physical separation of timelines and previews on dual screens prevents constant window shuffling. @jenny391's point about focus might be overstated, but for lengthy projects, that separation reduces cognitive load. The debate truly depends on editing style and project scope. Why lock into one dogma when hybrid approaches exist? What specific tasks make you prefer one setup over the other?
