Talking to my neighbor Mr. Henderson made me realize he's been filing noise complaints against the wrong house for 6 months

Ha, my neighbor once complained about my "drums" but it was just my washing machine on spin cycle.

Changed my mind about Arby's curly fries after a visit to the one on 42nd in Portland

Oh come on, is it really that serious? It's just roast beef and curly fries, not a health code violation. I've had worse meals at places people actually like.

Warning: I spent 3 years folding carpet backing the wrong direction before a 20 year vet pointed it out on a job site in Akron

Did you find the grain check is easier to feel on new carpet or old?

Vent: A full box of comics got soaked in the rain last weekend

Yeah but is it really that serious though? I mean theyre dollar bin comics and MAD magazines, not like we're talking first appearances or anything super rare. Paper towels and a fan work fine most of the time, you just gotta be patient. Freezer trick sounds like some old wives tale to me, ice crystals are gonna mess with the paper fibers no matter what. You ever try just flattening them under a heavy book after theyre dry? That always fixed the wavy page issue for me.

Tried to clean a shutter with lighter fluid and learned my lesson

Oh man, I feel your pain on that "too aggressive with the cotton swab" part. That exact same thing happened to me with a Nikon FM2n I was trying to fix up a few years ago. I was swabbing the shutter blades and one of them just slipped out of alignment and bent the tiniest bit. There's that sickening moment when you see it happen. You almost don't want to look at it again. Those old mechanical shutters are so delicate, even a little too much pressure or the wrong angle can wreck everything. Now I always try to use a super gentle touch, like even just a little puff of air or a barely damp swab. It's a hard lesson to learn but you're definitely not the only one who's had to buy a replacement part because they got a little too eager with the cleaning.
