My kid called a Dall-E picture 'art' and it threw me for a loop

He was showing me a weird image of a cat driving a bus he made with a few words. Said he made 'art' on the computer. I remember saving up for a Wacom tablet in 2010 and spending hours just trying to draw a straight line. The fact a 10 year old can type 'cat bus driver' and get a finished image in 30 seconds makes my old struggle feel pointless. Does typing a prompt really count as making something, or are we just giving up on learning the hard skills?

My landscaping business is basically a text prompt.

Wait, your kid made a cat bus driver image? That's actually hilarious. I get what you mean about the Wacom tablet struggle though, it feels like a different world now. Maybe it's just me, but typing a prompt feels more like giving orders than actually making something. And @noah517, that comparison is wild but it kinda makes a weird sense, doesn't it? Like, are we all just becoming prompt writers now instead of actually doing the thing?

Yeah it's like we're all middle managers now, telling the AI what to do. Kinda takes the fun out of making stuff with your own hands.
