I finally realized why AI keeps getting my grocery lists wrong

So I was messing around with a new AI assistant app on my phone last week, trying to build a simple grocery list. I kept adding things like 'milk' and 'eggs' and the app would suggest weird amounts or wrong brands. I got frustrated and dug into the settings and found out the training data was mostly from American users. I live in a small town in Canada and we measure milk in liters, not gallons! The AI had no idea. It's wild to me how much location matters for these tools. I found this stat online that said over 70% of AI training data comes from just a few countries. Makes me wonder how many other little things are broken for people outside those areas. Has anyone else noticed their AI making dumb mistakes based on where they live?

Dont know if I buy that its that big of a deal. I mean yeah the AI gets confused about my measurements too but I just type 'liters' and it works fine. Sounds like you dug into the settings over a minor annoyance. How often do you really need the AI to know your local milk jug size anyway?

Yeah, I get what you mean @simonp47, but it's like that time I tried to get an AI to help me find a good local mechanic and it kept recommending chains three towns over because that's all it knew.
