My first air fryer meal at my sister's place ruined regular chicken for me

Last Thanksgiving I was stuck helping my sister prep and she insisted on using her new air fryer for the wings. I told her it was a gimmick, she said just try one. Three hours later I had eaten half the batch and my oven-roasted recipe felt like eating rubber. Since then I've been trying to recreate that crisp at home with my old convection oven and it's just not happening. Am I the only one who had their whole cooking game flipped after one honest meal at a relative's house? What model did you start with and did you ever get the same results without buying a second appliance?

Honestly, my sister did the same thing to me with pork chops and now my grill just sits there judging me every time I open the garage. Ngl, I bought a cheap air fryer off a deal site two weeks later and never looked back, my oven's just a fancy storage cabinet now.
