Shoutout to the gas station guy who told me to preheat my air fryer
I was grabbing a coffee at the Shell station off Route 9 last Tuesday and this older guy behind me saw my air fryer sticker on my truck bumper. He said I was probably cooking everything wrong and I almost laughed him off. But he explained how preheating for 3 minutes makes the crust on chicken wings way better and keeps the temp steady. I went home and tried it that night with frozen fries and they came out crispy instead of soggy for once. Now I preheat every single time even for veggies and it's a total game changer. Has anyone else noticed a big difference from just letting it heat up first?

Why would you waste time waiting for an air fryer to heat up when you can just toss the food in and let it cook a couple minutes longer? I've tested it side by side with frozen fries and chicken strips and couldn't tell a difference in crispiness or texture. Preheating just burns extra electricity and makes me wait longer for my food which is the whole point of an air fryer in the first place.
