That Japanese fountain pen set I bought for $87 was a complete flop

Gotta admit @rileynelson I used to think paper didn't matter that much but you're totally right lol. Cheap ink really does ruin the whole feel of a nice pen.

The way comic book fans treat movie versions now vs 10 years back is night and day

The whole frame by frame analysis culture is exhausting. I watched a Snyder Cut breakdown where some guy spent ten minutes talking about whether the Batmobile tires were the right brand for the year the movie takes place. Ten minutes. It used to be we'd watch a fun action scene and just say "that was cool" and move on with our lives. Now everyone feels like they need to prove they're the bigger fan by pointing out the tiniest detail the director got wrong. It turned a hobby into homework. People forgot these are supposed to be entertaining, not a test of your comic book trivia knowledge.

My mentor told me my pie crust was too tough and I had to change my butter method

YES the pastry blender is a game changer!! I felt so dumb for not getting one sooner. I used to just use two knives and my butter would get all smeary by the end. And you're so right about the hands thing - I didn't even realize how much warmth I was transferring until I tried the freezer trick. Now I keep a little bowl of ice water next to my station too. Dip my fingertips in between mixing to keep them cold. Sounds extra but it really helps keep those butter chunks intact.

Got tired of uneven hammer strikes so I tried a file handle trick

Filled a flat on my rounding hammer years ago for the same damn reason. It was a game changer for controlling where the steel actually goes instead of just bouncing off weird. Just be careful you don't go too deep or you'll turn the face into a chisel edge on one side. I keep the flat pretty small, like just enough to feel it when I grip the handle. Have you found the sweet spot yet on how much to take off?

The broken link building trap I see people fall into every day

Preach. I wasted three months on broken link building back in 2021. Same exact story. Hundreds of outreach emails sent, maybe five replies total, zero links. It felt like shouting into a void. Then I switched to finding pages that were still getting traffic but had broken or old resources. Night and day difference. Those active pages actually need your fresh content right now. The 2019 dead pages are just digital dust. My reply rates went from 2% to like 15% after I stopped chasing ghosts. People forget Google doesn't rank dead pages anymore, so why would you want a link from one?
