TIL you're supposed to preheat an air fryer just like an oven
I had been tossing frozen fries in cold for 6 months until my sister watched me do it and laughed, now they actually come out crispy so what other basic stuff am I missing?

Man I found that out the hard way too except with a toaster oven. Spent a whole year making burnt-on-the-outside raw-in-the-middle chicken nuggets before my buddy who works at a diner saw me and was like "dude you gotta let it get hot first." Now I stand there watching the little light turn off like its some kind of victory signal before I throw food in. Also learned you gotta shake the basket halfway through or else your fries look like they got in a fight with a heat lamp and lost real bad.
