DAE have a fuel cap come loose on a preflight in Boise and second guess everything after?
I was doing a walkaround on a King Air 200 in Boise two weeks back and found the left fuel cap sitting proud of the skin, not even clicked in. I flagged it, told the pilot, and we held the bird 20 minutes while I checked the other side and re-seated it, but he acted like I was wasting his time. How do you all handle it when the crew brushes off a catch like that, do you log it or just move on?
A fuel cap sitting proud on a King Air is not a small thing. That is how you get fuel siphoning out in flight, and I have seen it happen. The pilot brushing you off is the part that gets me. You did the right thing holding the bird, and the fact that he acted like you wasted his time says more about him than about your catch. Next time, write it up in the log anyway. Paper trail protects you when the same crew does it again somewhere else.
