I finally found a use for my old tool roll at home
Last month I was cleaning out the garage in Phoenix, and I had this old canvas tool roll from my first job at the hangar. My wife was complaining about all her USB cables and chargers getting tangled in a drawer, so I grabbed that roll and stuffed each cable in a separate pocket. Now she actually labels her cables with the little tags I had from an audit three years ago at SkyWest. Has anyone else repurposed shop gear for home stuff?

I saw a YouTube video last week where a mechanic turned an old socket set case into a tackle box for fishing lures. That got me thinking about how much of this stuff is built to last, way more than the plastic organizers at the store. Keeps everything clean and easy to grab, just like you said with the cables.

Ngl, I gotta push back on this one. Those old socket cases are just heavy metal boxes that rust if you look at them wrong, and the foam inserts get all nasty when they get wet. Plastic organizers from the store are way lighter to carry around and you can see what's inside without opening everything. Plus that metal case is probably way bulkier than a modern tackle box, so you're lugging around extra weight for no real reason. And let's be real, how often do people actually keep that stuff clean and organized long term? It's usually just a mess of rusty hooks and tangled line within a month.
