Stopped by an old hangar at KADS last week and found a 1950s DC-3 still wearing its original paint

And you know what I’ve learned from finding old stuff like that? If the paint’s original and still holding up, leave it alone. I had a buddy who tried to “freshen up” an old work truck with a rattle can and ruined the whole patina for everyone who liked it. Sometimes the best thing you can do is just let history sit there and be itself.

Did you catch that thing on r/oldschoolcool about the barn find with the original factory paint? @grantadams is right, once that stuff's gone it's gone forever. My neighbor's dad had a '66 F100, paint was faded but solid, then his nephew "restored" it and now it's just another shiny truck.
