Spent 6 hours troubleshooting a false alarm on a DSC system

Turned out the backup battery was putting out 12.8 volts when the panel expected 13.2, and it was sending random trigger pulses. Has anyone else had a battery test fine but cause weird issues like that?

DSC panels are notorious for being picky about voltage, even a few tenths off can cause all kinds of ghost problems. Try testing the battery under load next time, a multimeter reading sitting idle won't catch those weak cells that fail when the system actually needs them. If it's more than three years old, just swap it out regardless of what the meter says and save yourself the headache.

Six hours for a battery that's "fine" except for the part where it's not actually fine. Classic security system logic, right? It's like the panel has trust issues and the battery is gaslighting it. 12.8 volts is basically the battery saying "I'm fine, everything's fine" while secretly sending ghost pulses out the back door. I swear these systems find the most creative ways to waste your Saturday. Bet you checked every wire and sensor three times before even thinking about that battery.

Honestly, did you try unplugging it and plugging it back in before all that?
