TIL a fix for pet-triggered motion sensors

Raised the unit and tweaked the sensitivity on a job yesterday. The customer called today to say it's been perfect.

Wait, you solved that pet problem in a single day? I've seen those sensors act up for weeks, even after changing batteries and cleaning lenses. Your quick fix of just raising it and tuning the sensitivity is hard to believe. My cousin had the same issue and ended up buying a whole new system after months of false alarms. Getting it perfect on the first try like that is really surprising.

Ugh, those sensors are so finicky.

Seriously, raising and tuning the sensor is the real fix. A buddy of mine had the same nightmare with his shepherd. The thing went off every time the dog walked past. He was ready to rip it off the wall. We just moved it up higher on a weekend and dialed the sensitivity way down. Hasn't had a false alarm since, and that was months ago. Sometimes the simple answer is the right one.
