A heads up about the new spoiler policy on the main anime subreddit

Last week, the main anime discussion subreddit changed its spoiler rules with almost no warning. They now say you have to tag any plot point from an episode that aired more than 48 hours ago. I saw three people get week-long bans on Tuesday alone for talking about a big moment from the latest 'Frieren' episode. The mods are being really strict, and it's making it hard to have real talks about ongoing shows. If you post there, double-check the pinned rules before you comment. Has anyone found a better forum for spoiler-friendly seasonal anime chat?

gonzalez.reese makes a good point about protecting new viewers, and I used to agree with that. Seeing people get banned for talking about a show that aired days ago changed my mind though. It just kills the natural flow of conversation when you're walking on eggshells. Isn't the whole point of a discussion forum to actually discuss things? I'm looking for a new place to talk about seasonal shows too.

Strict rules protect new viewers who can't watch right away. Where's the fun if every surprise gets ruined in the comments?

Agreed @gonzalez.reese, spoiler tags keep it fun for everyone without ruining the chat flow!
