Manga spoilers hit me in the grocery store line

I was at the checkout in Portland last Friday with a cart full of stuff when the guy behind me started loudly talking to his friend about the latest chapter of my favorite series. He dropped the BIGGEST plot twist, the one that's been teased for months, and I had no way to unhear it. I just stood there frozen, holding my milk, because I've been avoiding every spoiler thread online for weeks. Do I confront the guy or just accept that reading the chapter now feels pointless? Has anyone else been spoiled in a totally random public place like this?
