Walked into a tiny comic shop in Akron last weekend and half the shelves were just isekai and villainess stuff now
Stopped by the same shop I used to hit back in high school around 2009, and the whole back wall that used to be shonen and mecha is now stacked with light novel adaptations. Asked the guy behind the counter when the shift happened and he said it was a slow creep starting maybe five years back, not one big moment. Do you think we lost something when the shelves went that way, or is it just what sells now?
