The power outage in Austin that changed my generator plan

We lost power for 72 hours in Austin last summer during that heat wave. My big gas generator was useless because the stations couldn't pump either. Swapped it for a solar setup with a battery bank this week. Anyone else have issues relying on gas when the grid goes down?

Why not just keep some gas stored for emergencies? If you prep right with stabilizer and rotate it every 6 months you won't get stuck like that again. Solar setups are expensive and useless at night or when it's cloudy for days. Plus batteries wear out after a few years and cost a ton to replace. Seems like you jumped from one problem to another instead of just planning better.

Did you actually try calling around for gas or just assume you were SOL?
