Been using blue loctite on dryer drum screws and it fixed a noise that drove me nuts for a month
Had a customer call me back twice about a rattle in their Samsung dryer. Checked everything, belt, rollers, idler. Turned out the drum screws were backing out just a hair. Put a drop of blue loctite on each one and its been quiet for 3 months now. Anyone else do this or am I overthinking it?

Read a tip from an old appliance guy online about this - he swore by putting a tiny dab of clear nail polish on the threads instead of loctite so it breaks loose easier if you ever need to take them out. Tried it on a noisy LG dryer last month and it worked like a charm (the noise stopped immediately, no joke). The blue loctite should be fine too though since its medium strength, just keep it away from plastic parts because Ive heard it can eat through some of them over time.

And that trick with nail polish works on other stuff too, not just dryers. I had a washing machine that would rattle itself loose every three months, tried the nail polish on the screws and it's been solid for over a year now. The best part is you can still get them out with a regular screwdriver if you need to, no heat or cussing required. I've also used it on a squeaky ceiling fan where the blades were held in with those tiny little screws, just a dot on each one and the noise went away for good. The key is just a tiny dab though, too much and you'll be scraping it off with a razor blade.

Man that tip about nail polish is genius, I've noticed the best fixes are always the ones that seem too simple to work at first!
