Customer swore her dryer wasn't heating up

Found a sock melted around the heating element inside the vent hose, cleared it out in 10 minutes and she handed me $80 cash with a shocked look on her face - anyone else find weird stuff jammed in dryer vents?

Saw a story online once where a guy pulled a whole bird's nest out of someone's dryer vent with, like, leaves and twigs stuffed in there. Sounds like what bennett.noah said about location being off, but still a crazy find either way. Laundry rooms are wild for random junk.

You said "melted around the heating element inside the vent hose" but that's not quite right - a sock melted onto the element would usually be inside the dryer cabinet, not the vent hose itself. The vent hose is after the heating element, so by the time the sock got there it would be more like a charred lump than melted plastic. Still a weird find though, people lose all sorts of stuff in laundry.

Agree completely, you nailed the technical part there. Found a melted plastic fork inside our old dryer once, had to take the whole back panel off to get it out. People really do manage to lose the strangest things in those machines.
