Debate: To wrap or not to wrap climbing line with old tire tubes? I snapped mine last week.

Oh man, hard disagree here. Wrapping with tire tubes is a quick fix but it traps moisture and grit against the rope, which actually causes more wear over time. You'd be better off just replacing the sheath or running it bare until you can get a proper fix.

Wait wait wait @jones.anna are you serious about the water thing? I've been wrapping my climbing ropes with cut up inner tubes for like 3 years now and never had a problem. Just did a big trip in the rain last month and when I peeled the tube off the rope was bone dry underneath. Maybe it depends on the climate you're in? I always stuff the ends with a little bit of duct tape to seal it up too, keeps everything clean.
