I think topping trees for a better view is a terrible idea.

So many folks say it's fine, but I've seen it weaken trees and make them unsafe. There are better ways to manage growth without causing harm.

Seriously, it's this whole mindset of a quick fix over long term health. People do it with everything, not just trees. They want the fast result now and ignore how bad it messes things up later. You see it with houses, with cars, with all sorts of stuff. It just creates bigger, more expensive problems down the road. Tbh, it's frustrating because the right way is almost always just a little more patience and care.

Something that doesn't get talked about enough is how this quick fix culture gets pushed on us from a young age. Like in school, kids learn to memorize for tests instead of actually understanding the material, setting them up for the same shortcuts later in life. You see it in jobs too, where meeting quarterly targets trumps building solid systems. Makes you wonder how we break out of that cycle, right?

Totally agree with you @lopez.oscar, and it's painfully obvious with houses. People watch a flip show and think slapping gray paint over everything is a real fix. They cover up mold with cheap panels or hide foundation cracks with a fancy rug. Then the buyer gets stuck with a nightmare bill two years later. That shortcut mindset just passes the problem to someone else, usually with a huge price tag. It's all about the shiny now instead of the solid later.
