Did the cold sneak up on your pad too? I've had pads act like they're allergic to chilly nights, leaving me on hard ground. It's why I double-check the temperature rating now, but I still get surprised sometimes.

Seriously, it's this whole mindset of a quick fix over long term health. People do it with everything, not just trees. They want the fast result now and ignore how bad it messes things up later. You see it with houses, with cars, with all sorts of stuff. It just creates bigger, more expensive problems down the road. Tbh, it's frustrating because the right way is almost always just a little more patience and care.
