A walk along the Thames foreshore made me see the river differently

I was looking at the mud near the Millennium Bridge and realized every single piece of broken pottery or clay pipe stem was a tiny, discarded piece of London's history. It hit me that the whole riverbed is just layers of lost objects, not just dirt. Has anyone else had a moment like that at a local historic site?

Always thought it was just mud until I found an old button there last year.

Wait you found an actual button in the mud? That's wild, @piper_smith. Honestly I would have just washed it off and kept walking. What did it even look like, was it metal or something? Tbh that makes me want to poke around in my own backyard.

Ever wonder what stories the river could actually tell?
