Shoutout to the guy at the Denver airport who asked me for directions

I was rushing to my gate last Tuesday when a traveler stopped me to ask where the A concourse was. I had to pull up the airport map on my phone because I didn't know, and it made me realize I never actually look at terminal layouts before I fly. Now I spend 5 minutes checking the map while I wait to board. Does anyone else have a small travel habit they picked up from a random moment?

Wait, you just pull up the map while you're already at the gate? That's wild to me, I'd be having a full panic attack trying to find my way. I have to study the whole layout the night before like it's a final exam.

@juliag10 My brain would just shut down if I tried to memorize a whole airport. I'm the person staring at the signs like they're written in a secret code, then walking straight to the wrong terminal. The night before a trip is for stressing about packing, not becoming an expert in terminal geography. I need that little blue dot to tell me where to go, it's my only hope.

Used to be the same way, had to know every gate location by heart. Then I missed a connection at O'Hare because a food court renovation moved everything around. My perfect mental map was useless. Now I just check the airport app when I land, it shows real-time gate changes. Saved me last week when my flight out of Denver switched terminals last minute.
