Appreciation post: I finally understood why stacking software matters

I spent years trying to get clear shots of the Orion Nebula with just a single long exposure from my backyard in Boise. A guy at the local astronomy club meeting last month showed me his stacked image of the same target, and the difference was night and day. Anyone have a favorite stacking program for a beginner?

Yeah I used to think it was just a gimmick too. Seeing a side-by-side comparison like that is a total game changer.
