My first try at the Orion Nebula was a total mess

I was out at the state park last month, super excited to finally get a good shot. I set everything up, took a bunch of pictures, and when I got home the whole stack was just a blurry, streaky mess. Turns out I forgot to turn off the tracking on my mount before I moved to a new spot. I had to scrap all the data and start over from scratch the next clear night. Has anyone else done something that silly with their gear?

Forgot to turn off the tracking" is the worst. I've done that. Wasted a whole night once.

Oh man, the worst. Setting a phone timer for the exposure helps a ton (just don't forget to stop it).
