Overheard a guy at the gas station talking about stacking astro photos...

I was filling up my truck Tuesday and this older dude was telling his buddy about stacking 30 second exposures to get the Milky Way to pop. I've been doing single shots all summer and getting frustrated with the noise. So I tried it last night with just 15 frames of Orion and the difference was insane. Has anyone else had that moment where a simple tip from a stranger changed your whole approach?

Man wait, only 15 frames? That's wild. I thought you needed like a hundred or something to really make a difference. No wonder my attempts at stacking looked like trash, I was getting too impatient and only doing like 5 or 6. Gotta admit it makes me feel kinda dumb for not trying it sooner but hey, at least I know now.

Hang on @haydenbutler, you really only did 5 or 6 stacks and wondered why they looked bad?
