Just realized my primer flash times were way too short for 4 years
I had a 2018 F-150 come back with peeling clear coat on the hood last month, and I couldn't figure out why since I thought I was doing everything right. Turns out I was rushing the primer before base, like waiting maybe 3 minutes when it needed 15 in the shop temp. The solvent was still outgassing and it lifted the top coat in patches. A buddy who does fleet work in Phoenix told me to check the technical data sheet, which I never read past the mix ratio. Now I set a timer on my phone and it's added maybe 20 minutes per job but zero callbacks since. Anyone else ever base over too-green primer and pay for it later or was I the only one?

Timer on my phone sounds like overkill. That primer was probably fine and the real issue was humidity or your clear coat thickness.
