Hot take: I cross threaded a customer's oil pan bolt on a 2019 Silverado and had to fess up
Last Tuesday at our shop off Highway 9, I was rushing the last oil change before close and felt the drain plug go crooked on a 2019 Silverado. Instead of just backing it out, I kept going and it spun loose, so I had to tell the service writer, Marcus, that we'd need a new pan. We ate the cost, about $280 in parts and labor, but the customer came back two weeks later and asked for me by name. What do you all do when you mess up, tell the customer straight or let the shop eat it quietly?
