Just had a 2020 F-150's plastic oil filter housing crack on the lift

It was a simple oil change, but the housing split when I torqued it to spec, dumping 6 quarts of fresh oil. Anyone found a good metal replacement part that doesn't cost a fortune?

My buddy's 2018 did the same thing last winter. He found a cast aluminum housing from Dorman for about eighty bucks. Swapped it in his driveway and hasn't had a drip since.

Yeah, that driveway swap is the real win. Saves a ton on labor compared to a shop. The trick is getting the coolant mix right after, and using a good sealant on the gasket. My neighbor rushed that part and had a small leak for weeks until he redid it. Taking your time on the clean-up makes all the difference.

Ugh, I gotta disagree on the Dorman part. Their aluminum housing on my buddy's truck started weeping after a year, not even a hard winter. He ended up getting the Motorcraft metal one, which was only like twenty bucks more. Sometimes the cheap fix costs you double the labor later.
