Warning: almost fried a whole panel on a King Air 350 last week

Was troubleshooting a flickering display on a King Air 350 at KAPA and accidentally clipped a 28V line with my meter probe while the battery was still hot. Smoke started coming from the PFD - had to pull the breaker and yank the battery quick before the whole thing went up. Anyone else ever had a dead short smoke a display on these?

One tiny mistake and suddenly you're dealing with smoke and panic." Yep, that about sums up the whole King Air experience right there. Those 28V busses aren't forgiving.

Oh I felt that one in my gut when you said "clipped a 28V line with my meter probe." It's funny how the smallest slip up can turn into a big mess, isn't it? Your story reminds me of how many things in life are like that one bad spark that sets off a chain reaction. Like forgetting to turn off the stove before walking away, or bumping a glass off the counter while reaching for the salt. One tiny mistake and suddenly you're dealing with smoke and panic. It's almost like the universe has a way of testing us with these little moments where everything has to line up just right.
