A simple coffee date turned into a public mess at the mall food court

We met at the food court in the Springfield Galleria, and I spilled my entire iced coffee on his lap within the first five minutes. He jumped up, knocking over his chair, and the loud crash made everyone stare. I tried to help with napkins, but he just kept saying 'it's fine' in a very tight voice while his jeans were soaked. Has anyone else had a public spill turn a date into a silent, sticky walk of shame?

Oh man, that's not a walk of shame, that's just a bad accident! Honestly, the real red flag is him saying "it's fine" when he was clearly upset. A good date would have laughed it off with you, not made it all tense. The spill itself is just a funny story, but his reaction kinda ruins it.

My friend's date once spilled a whole beer on himself and just said "well, guess I'm the main course now." That guy got a second date.
