That stuff is a menace. Had the exact same thing happen with a piece of O1 tool steel, a total write-off. The fast quench they advertise just seems to shock the steel way too hard, no matter what the label says it's good for. My can is now just taking up space on the shelf. Notice how we do this with movies too, always naming the director but forgetting the cinematographer. Makes you realize how we default to crediting the "author" in any medium. I try to name the artist first now when I talk about a comic, just to break the habit.

Honestly, I get why @alexw75 finds it frustrating, but I kind of love the puzzle. It forces me to really break down the tones and trust my eye over a formula. A bad photo means the client trusts YOUR skill to interpret it, which is a cool compliment in a weird way. Sure, it takes extra time mixing, but nailing it feels like a bigger win.
