Took a date to a fancy restaurant last week and my card got declined

I'd been saving up for weeks to take this girl to a nice Italian place downtown, and when the check came my debit card just got rejected right there at the table. Turns out I'd accidentally set a $50 daily spending limit on my banking app and forgot about it months ago. Has anyone else had a date get derailed by something dumb like a technical glitch or misclick?

Bro that exact thing happened to me except it was a Venmo daily limit I forgot I set. I just laughed it off and told her straight up "my bank's being dumb today" then called the restaurant the next morning and asked if I could come back and pay with a different card - they were cool about it and she actually thought the whole thing was kinda funny. Long story short we've been together for 8 months now so owning up to it worked way better than trying to finesse some excuse.

Is it weird that I used to think you gotta come up with a perfect excuse but now @oliver2 showed me just owning it works way better?

Oh man, that's brutal but honestly this kinda stuff happens way more than people admit. I've noticed this whole pattern where our phones and banking apps are supposed to make life easier but they just add these weird little traps you forget about. Like I once had my card declined at a gas station because I accidentally set up a notification limit instead of a spending limit and it locked my whole account. Now I check my app settings like once a month just to make sure I haven't activated something random. It's wild how one tiny checkbox you set months ago can come back and totally embarrass you at the worst possible time.
