I used to think guest posts were just for big sites until I swapped tactics last month.

I spent a year only pitching my main site to huge blogs and got maybe two links, but then I started writing for smaller local business blogs in my niche, like a plumbing supply shop in Tacoma. After sending out five of these, I got three solid links in two weeks because they were just happy to have the content. Has anyone else found that going for smaller, more grateful sites works better than chasing the big ones?

Totally get it. I chased a big home improvement blog for six months with no luck. Then I wrote a simple guide for a small hardware store's blog in Spokane... they posted it the next day and even shared it on their local Facebook page. The smaller spots are just so much easier to work with.

It's like that everywhere now. Big places have so many layers and rules that nothing gets done. Smaller businesses still have someone you can actually talk to who can just say yes. They need the help more and they actually notice when you do good work. Chasing the big names feels important but it's mostly a waste of time.
