Saw a guy at the Austin Home and Garden Show selling 500 directory links for $99, and half the room was writing checks
Stood in the back of a packed seminar room at the Austin Convention Center last Saturday and watched a guy pitch 500 directory backlinks for $99 to about 200 people, and folks were lining up after. Here's the split I keep going back and forth on: sure, most of those links are junk with zero traffic, but for a brand new site with nothing, is 500 low quality links worse than having no links at all? I lean toward no links being safer, but I know small business owners who swear the cheap stuff got them indexed and moving. Anyone here actually tested a pile of cheap directory links against doing nothing for six months?
