The blog comment I stopped writing after 2016

I used to spend 2 hours a day leaving thoughtful comments on random sites, thinking any link helped, until a niche post about vintage tractors pointed out that my SEO blog links looked like spam to Google. The moment it clicked was when my traffic actually went up after I cut those links in half and started pitching real guest posts to farm equipment magazines. Anyone else look back at their old outreach and wonder how they got away with it for so long?
