Just realized how empty the Colorado Trail was a decade ago
I was looking at some old photos from my first thru-hike on the Colorado Trail back in 2013. Back then, you could go days without seeing another person on some parts. The trail was rough in places, with fewer signs and lots of bushes. I used paper maps and a basic compass, with no phone apps to help out. Now, every good view has a group, and folks are always on their devices for trail info. The camps that were once quiet spots are packed early in the day. It's still pretty, but the alone time I liked is tough to get. That makes me miss those old hikes a bit.

Man, that hits hard. What was your favorite quiet spot back then that's totally different now? I get that feeling of seeing a place change over time and missing how it felt when it was just you out there. It's like the world found your secret and forgot to put it back.

Seriously... it's like everything good gets found out eventually. There was this little creek behind my old apartment, completely hidden by trees... now it's a paved path with benches and trash cans. It happens with coffee shops too, once they get popular the whole vibe just changes. Makes you want to keep your new spots to yourself.
