Swore off trekking poles for 6 trips, then a steep descent into Tuolumne Meadows humbled me
I always thought poles were for people with bad knees and that carrying them was just extra weight, but after my knees got wrecked on a 2,000 foot drop with a loaded pack I borrowed a friend's pair for the last 8 miles and the difference was night and day. Now I'm second guessing every ounce I've ever counted, anyone else make this switch late?
