Rant: The year I got a single can of creamed corn from my aunt
I always thought my aunt just hated me because she gave me one single can of creamed corn for Christmas three years in a row. Then I found out from my mom that she did it because I once mentioned liking cornbread. She actually thought she was being thoughtful by giving me the key ingredient. I saw a post on here about weird re-gifts and it finally clicked that this belongs in the hall of fame. Does anyone else have a gift that was well-meaning but just ended up being hilarious in the worst way?

That really got me, especially the part about her thinking she was being thoughtful by giving you the key ingredient. It's almost sweet in a way, but it's such an odd thing to give someone year after year. I once got a box of instant mashed potatoes from a neighbor for my birthday, she said she knew I liked potatoes. I did not have the heart to tell her that I meant the actual vegetable, not the powdered stuff. Sometimes people just latch onto the smallest thing we say and it turns into the most bewildering gift.
