Why does everyone rave about those personalized photo calendars
I got one from my sister-in-law last Christmas and honestly it felt like she put more thought into the envelope than the actual gift. She used the same 12 photos from our family vacation to the Grand Canyon in 2018, just scattered across random months with no real order. The pictures were nice but I don't need to see my brother-in-law holding a burrito every single February for the next five years. Has anyone else gotten a calendar that felt more like a lazy afterthought than a meaningful present?

Exactly same thing with my aunt's "custom" calendar she gave me three years running. Same 12 photos of her dog every single time, just shuffled around like I wouldn't notice. It's like people think slapping a photo on a calendar counts as effort now. I've noticed this bigger thing where we've gotten lazy with homemade gifts. Everyone buys a premade template and calls it personal. Nobody actually thinks about what the other person would like or use. A calendar with pictures I took on my own phone that I already have saved feels less thoughtful than just buying me a nice regular calendar from the store. We've traded real thought for the illusion of thought.

Right? It's the Pinterest-fication of gift giving.
