Hot take: That recent Point Break redo missed the whole point
They tried to swap out surfing for extreme sports but it just felt like a bland action clip show. Keanu and Swayze's chemistry is why the first one worked, and this new cast had zero of that. It bombed hard at the box office because no one needed a soulless copy of a classic. Remakes like this just prove some movies should be left alone on the shelf.

That "soulless copy" idea @tessalewis mentioned is everywhere now, from movie remakes to how companies redo classic products without the soul. They focus on the surface stuff and miss what made people care in the first place.

People take these remakes too seriously. That Point Break version was bland, but it's just one movie. The original's legacy isn't harmed by a failed update. In a few years, nobody will even remember it.
