Our movie night with the 'Cheaper by the Dozen' remake was a bust.
I finally sat down with my kids to see the new 'Cheaper by the Dozen' remake on Disney+. We were all excited because we love the original from 2003. But right from the start, it felt flat. The jokes didn't land, and the family moments seemed forced. My son even said it was like seeing strangers try to act like a family. I think the problem is they updated it too much and lost the heart of what was fun about the original. It just made me wonder why they even bothered to remake it when the first one still holds up. What do you all think about remakes of classic family movies?

I watched about twenty minutes of that remake before I switched to something else. It felt like a bland after-school special. But honestly, is it that big a deal? It's just a movie. If it's bad, we still have the old one. Disney pumps out content, and most of it is forgettable. This one just joined the pile.

That 2003 version is like comfort food, so hearing the new one feels like strangers is wild. They completely lost the messy, real family vibe that made the first one work. Just sounds like there was no reason for this remake at all.

Honestly, five years ago I would have said any remake was fine if it got a new generation to watch. Tbh the 2003 movie had that crazy, loud chaos that felt real, like the scene where they're all late and fighting over the bathroom. The new one just feels like it's checking boxes for a modern family without any of the real mess. It totally changed my mind on why some stories should just be left alone.
