Stopped by a pawn shop and found the 1980s Flash Gordon on VHS
I was in Tucson last weekend killing time and spotted an old copy of the original Flash Gordon movie for $3. The remake from 2020 just didn't have that silly charm and the Queen soundtrack. Why do they keep remaking classics that already got the vibe right?

Read that the original Flash Gordon was basically a love letter to old serials where nobody took it too serious and that's why it works. The 2020 version tried to be all MODERN and gritty but missed the point of the silly space adventures. A movie with Brian Blessed screaming at full volume for two hours doesn't need a serious remake.

Pretty sure no 2020 Flash Gordon actually happened, that project got cancelled years ago.

Oh man, people get so worked up about remakes. I mean sure Flash Gordon is fun but it's not like it's some sacred text or anything. The 2020 version probably would have been fine if people just gave it a chance instead of yelling about Brian Blessed before even seeing a trailer. Maybe some things just aren't that deep, you know?
