The 2016 Ghostbusters reboot felt like a different movie after the original cast cameo
After watching the 1984 version on VHS last month and then revisiting the 2016 one the same night, I saw how the original's tight timing and chemistry made the remake's jokes land flat, so has anyone else noticed the pacing difference ruins the whole tone?

The cameo scene actually highlights the problem, doesnt it? Watching the original cast pop in just makes you compare their timing to the new crew, and the difference is almost painful. Do you think the director was going for a passing-the-torch moment, or was it just a cheap nostalgia grab that backfired? Because it felt like the movie was almost apologizing for itself, like even the filmmakers knew the new jokes didnt stick. I wonder if that scene would land better if the whole movie had been paced more like the original.
