Bought a $40 sound meter after 2 years of fighting with the guy behind me, and now I feel stupid
I used to just bang on the wall when his bass kicked in past 11, but a $40 meter from the hardware store showed his levels were hitting 68 dB in my bedroom at 1am. Turns out I was mostly mad at the times he kept, not the noise itself. Has anyone actually gotten a landlord to act on a reading like that, or did you just move?
Read somewhere that most noise rules are about decibels and hours, so a timestamped log with readings might hold up better than just complaining. Worth checking your lease or city code before you bother the landlord.
